powell river prawn festival

Powell River Spot Prawn Festival – Powell River, BC
Saturday, June 1, 2013 – Noon to Midnight
Wharf at Westview – Powell River, BC

This is a 12 hour event, from noon to midnight on June 1, 2013.  The festival is located at the Wharf at Westview to provide easy access to the commercial fishing vessels selling live spot prawns.  This is a family event with entertainment for kids including a ‘dunk-a-dad’ tank, a free fishing derby, a bouncy castle, a magician, a professional clown and other entertainment.  Pedro the Prawn, the 6 foot festival mascot will again be at the festival.  Cooking demonstrations and the Black Box Competition are favorites showcasing local chefs.  In addition, food vendors will offer a wide variety of options to please everyone.  For more information go to:  http://www.prspotprawnfest.com/

Victoria 1st Annual Spot Prawn and Sustainable Seafood Festival – Victoria, BC

On May 26, 2013 Vic West will be the home of the first annual Victoria Spot Prawn and Sustainable Seafood Festival, a celebration of seasonal, sustainable and local seafood.  This is a free event offering the tastes, sights and sounds of sustainable food and lifestyle choices, with a special emphasis on live spot prawns and other sustainable seafood.  The day will also feature chef demos, fresh seafood sales, food vendors, artisans and crafters, musical performances, kids’ activities, and a speaker series. Okanagan 3rd Annual Spot Prawn Festival – Kelowna, BC
The 3rd annual Okanagan Spot Prawn Festival is scheduled to run from May 25th to June 2nd with participating restaurants featuring spot prawn creations from the Okanagan’s best chefs.  Codfather’s Seafood market will be offering a special spot prawn boil event on Wednesday, May 29th and the festival will end with the signature event, the Spot Prawn Extravaganza, at Manteo Resort’s Smack DAB restaurant on Sunday, June 2nd.  For more information go to:  http://okspotprawnfestival.com
